INTERVIEW – Ignite Power aims to reach 100m with distributed clean energy in Africa

Abu Dhabi-based distributed renewable energy (DRE) solutions provider Ignite Power will pursue both organic and inorganic growth, alongside results-based financing (RBF), to advance its goal of reaching 100 million people by 2030, the company’s CEO commented in an interview with Renewables Now.
We spoke with CEO Yariv Cohen after Ignite Power’s agreement to acquire French utility Engie SA’s Sub-Saharan Africa-focused off-grid solar unit. He discussed the significance of the deal, the company’s strategy for achieving its expansion targets, the main barriers to renewable energy adoption in the region, the evolving market landscape, and the steps needed to fight energy poverty in sub-Saharan Africa.
